Making A Difference . . . Making A Match

Community Services Foundation is excited to announce the 2009 Making A Difference . . . Making A Match fundraising program. This program has been incredibly successful at providing assistance to Charleston Transitional Facility (CTF) and Southwest Community Services, Inc. (SCS). In the past several years, it has raised a total of $99,878! These agencies need your support more than ever. While the demand for services continues to rise, the State of Illinois budget crisis has reduced funding for programs that serve people with developmental disabilities and mental illness. There is absolutely no room in agency budgets for new equipment or life enrichment and skill building programs.

Together we can make a difference! Through December 31, 2009, Community Services Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, your donations to either CTF or SCS*. Any size donation can make a big impact because of the matching dollars. For example, a $100 donation, once matched, provides $200 towards programs and services. Here are just a few examples of items your donation could help purchase:

  • A $100 donation would give a group of people with disabilities the opportunity to have an outing in the community.
  • A $250 donation would purchase coats or clothing for people with disabilities living on Public Aid.
  • A $500 donation would purchase a new wheelchair.
  • A $1,000 donation would purchase specialized adaptive equipment and computer software for people with disabilities.
  • A $2,500 donation would purchase used computers and software for use in the day programs.
  • A $5,000 donation would purchase a therapeutic swing that would give people in wheelchairs the opportunity to move their bodies in a different way.

*All donations must benefit Charleston Transitional Facility or Southwest Community Services, Inc. There is no dollar limit for individual donations. However, there is a $500 limit per business donation to qualify for matching dollars. There is no limit on the number of donations an individual or business can make. Donations from non-profit organizations are not eligible for matching dollars.

Checks must be made payable to Community Services Foundation and can be mailed to 6775 Posperi Drive, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Credit card donations can be made by clicking on the Network for Good link on our website. Community Services Foundation is a non-profit exempt under Sec. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Donations are deductible to the extent allowed by IRS codes.
